Narrow piece is either 20 mm or 25 mm - wide piece is 38 mm
I suggest using size 20/38 for dogs under 20 kg and 25/38 for dogs over 20 kg.
The measurement you specify is the full measurement the necklace will be, including the chain stretched out. In other words, if you write 50 cm, the necklace including chain will be 50 cm.
How to measure:
- To get the best measurement, measure the dog's head with a tape measure.
- It must be tightened in such a way that it can be taken off the dog without too much difficulty, but it must also not fall off when the dog sniffs, e.g. when it is free.
- Therefore, measure tightly around the dog's head and have two fingers between the measuring tape and the dog so that there is room for you to take the collar off again.
Martingale collars are made in such a way that they provide a light choke function for when the dog pulls and it is super good for dogs whose head and neck are about the same width because the dog cannot pull out of the collar. As the dog stops pulling, the collar becomes "slack" and will hang loosely around the dog's neck.
BioThane is good for all environments and it will stay beautiful for many years to come. BioThane is also extremely resistant to salt water, but I would still suggest rinsing it when you get home, for the sake of the buckles and rivets.
